Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream | 50 SPF | Review

A 50 SPF capacity sunscreen review in the middle of winters –  well why not?

I know it will make more sense for me to post this during summer as sunscreens (especially the ones with 50SPF ammo) are a summer thing. But hear me out. Don’t we all just love getting that extra sun during winters? Don’t we all forget to carry a hat or sunglasses while sipping a hot cup of “aadrak vali chai”sitting out on our sunny balconies and gardens? YES WE DO… So aren’t we still getting affected by the UAV/UVB rays? – YES WE ARE!!
I don’t know about you guys, buy I always forget/ignore incorporating a sunscreen in my “winter skincare routine”. Because in my mind Winter Season = GTFO Sunscreen!
But as I am getting older I have realised the importance of applying sunscreen irrespective of the season. It is important to take care of your skin and a good sunscreen is exactly what you need for it.
I have been using this sunscreen for about a year now and this is my 3-4th tube. I love the consistency, texture and most importantly the lasting power on this one is amazing.

Sunflower oil and Jeju green tea extract protect your skin against UV rays.
∙ A long-lasting, water-proofing UV protection effect prevents your skin from getting greasy with sweat and sebum during your outdoor activities [highly water-resistant].
∙ 3 functions in one product [Anti-aging & Whitening & UV Protection]
∙ 5-Free system : Free of animal ingredients, mineral oils, artificial coloring, tar dye and talc.
[Certified Functions] UV Protection, Anti-Aging, Whitening (2016005643)
At the last stage of your skincare routine, evenly apply onto easily exposed areas of face.
Sunflower oil in Innisfree sunblock keeps your skin healthy and safe from UV rays.

One gripe that I may mention if you really twist my arm is the is does leave a “white cast” but only for the first few minutes. The “whitening” claim might be the reason for it. But its more like using a CC cream with sheer coverage.  But really – if you compare this to all the benefits, I’m only being nit-picky here.

Overall, I believe this might be one of the top 3 sunscreens I have ever used and the is saying a lot!
I will certainly be repurchasing it.

Denim Day | Forever 21 Embroidered Denim Jacket | OOTD

This weekend was a much welcomed lazy one. The whole of Saturday we (my hubby, my dog and I) spent lounging and watching our favourite movies.
Today we attended an Air Force event in the afternoon, returning from which we lazed around a bit more in the evening. I finally saw “Bajirao Mastani” which was coming on TV – didn’t like it. In between my very lazy evening and the event I did manage to make my hubby capture a few clicks of mine for my first official OOTD for the blog.
This was a bit of whirlwind of a photoshoot, minus an appropriate DSLR, apologies for that. The pics were taken on his iPhone so they aren’t really HD (he has a 6S), but will do 😜.
The day was sunny and the temperature was a lovely 20°C during these extreme winters, so I didn’t really feel the need to wear a chunky sweater, this jacket was enough. I totally appreciate the fact that apart from being decently warm it also has this super cool embroidary on the back that has a crouching tiger on it with KOREA written on top – vey Gucci-esq if you ask me! 😜
I have mentioned the links for what I wore right under the first pic, so do check out if interested!

Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Waters | Review

Oh Happy Day!
Garnier has finally launched their amazing micellar water in India. Further good news, it has been launched along with the new Bi-Phase solution for waterproof makeup. 👏👏
I myself have been using this since past few years and I love it. Now this launch makes me happy as I no longer have to order it from UK based websites and wait for 15-20 days for its arrival.
Now clearly the million dollar arises. Is it any good compared to its French predecessor and counterpart –Bioderma. Clearly Garnier has the design of the bottle a bit the nose with the clear bottom and a pink stopper. But if it really comes down to it, this one is as effective, as gentle and as quick to work with as Bioderma but for a fraction of the cost.
I would any day pick and recommend this one over Bioderma for the price, quantity and quality are all equal or better.
Now on to the Bi-Phase solution. It does take off waterproof makeup faster than the plain micellar one. You end up rubbing your lashes less, therefore you don’t end up loosing one/two precious ones in return.
If you have patience, the plain micellar one will take off the waterproof makeup as well. But go ahead and get the bi-phased one as obviously the oil will help break the makeup faster, especially if you hate taking off waterproof makeup because it takes an eternity to do so.
Bothe bottles come in a 400ml packs and cost under INR400, which is incredible compared to the very expensive Bioderma, Vichy etc.

YouTube Video | Nykaa Launches Wet & Wild | First Impressions + Haul

Nykaa recently launched Wet&Wild Cosmetic line on their website. I have been loving Nykaa recently for introducing many overseas brands on their site, finally we can get them minus the custom fee!
I purchased a few items off their website, so I made this video where I “haul” them for you along with a first impression of the Wet&Wild items.
Hope you enjoy the video!!

Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick | The Best Liquid Lipstick Yet?

Chambor presents long-lasting, transfer proof liquid lipsticks with smooth sensorial feel and creamy matte finish. The Chambor extreme wear transfer proof liquid lipsticks come with extreme coverage and provide deep, intense colour in just one stroke. Flaunt these stunning shade liquid lipsticks which are high on pigment and comfortable on lips for long hours.”
Long-lasting, Transfer proof liquid lipstick.

Deep intense colour shades available.

Creamy matte finish.

Extreme coverage lipsticks.

The Chamber Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipsticks are exactly what their very lengthy name suggests. They are transferproof, they are long wearing, they are extremely pigmented and they are absolutely wonderful.
There aren’t many brands that provide a proper and true “liquid lipstick” in India. L’Oreal and Maybelline came up with their whipped liquid matte formulations, but they never really dry down to a pure matte lip. There are the ones available at Sephora and M.A.C but they come with a high price tag.
So basically in drugstore, and I am here excluding the Revlon matts which I love but are expensive, these are the only real liquid lipsticks available.
I love the colour range. It is very similar to the current trend of mauves and muted colours. A lot of shades are an easy dupes for the Kylie Jenner LipKits and HUDABeauty liquid lipsticks.
The Formula is just brilliant. They dry down to an absolute matte and then they do not budge. They are not terribly drying like ColourPop and some other liquid Lipsticks. In my opinion, their formula is even better than M.A.C Liquid Lipstick and many others higher end lipsticks available in terms of price, durability and formulation. If I really have to compare its formula to another brand, I would to the Sephora Liquid Lipsticks.

Okay, now please ignore the makeup-free face 😊😊

Clockwise from top left – 402, 483, 401 & 484

PS – I always dab the lipstick with my fingers to tone it down – this I do with every lipstick. Therefore, the hand swatch is more opaque and full impact than lip swatch.

The four colours that I bought are pretty similar to the following Kylie Lip Kits…

484 Truffle – between Kylie Jenner’s Dolce K and True Brown
483 Rose Boudoir – Kylie Jenner’s Candy K
402 Effortless Pink – Kylie Jenner’s Koko K
401 Rosemantic – Kylie Jenner’s Poise K

**The above mentioned colours are the almost dupes (80%-95% match) and not exact colours.

They come in 18 fabulous shades covering all colour needs that you have – from pinky nudes for bright fuchsia to stunning reds and breathtaking deep plums. I am slowly truing to acquire ALL the shades…I think I need them in my life!

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Color

Super Stay 7 Days by Maybelline is a gel nail colour that delivers seven days of flawless, chip free colour for the perfect at home manicure that lasts.
Gel resin formula for longwear. Enriched with Calcium, Iron and Silica for strength. Special full-fit brush to sweep on the perfect dose of colour.”

Nothing in the above given campaign statement is exaggeration. Trust me! These gems from Maybelline may just be THE best nail paints available in the drugstores of India right now. In fact, they can go head to head with any of the expensive/luxury nail paints and still win by miles.
This particular nail paint has one of the most incredible formulation   I have seen recently. The colour payoff is opaque and one coat usually does the job. The application is smooth. The brush is a “full-fit” paddle design that covers the nails flawlessly and in one stroke gives full coverage.
Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Color in 887 Beige Touch
If you have never tried these before, I will gladly be pushing you to buy them. You will not regret! For a price of INR350 they are an absolute steal. A nail colour formula doesn’t get any better at this range.

The Ordinary Skincare | The Abnormal Beauty Company | Skincare Haul & Preview

Of course, I caved in! The Abnormal Beauty Company, and especially its line “The Ordinary” is probably the most hyped skincare brand launch of the year 2017.

The first time I saw/heard about this brand was while watching a FleurDeForce video specifically focused on this particular range. It was not sponsored so obviously caught my fancy.
I ended up buying 3 products from the range – 2 serums and 1 moisturiser, namely :

I have been using these for past week now and I already like the results. The Hyaluronic Acid serum is tremendously hydrating. I am already seeing a subtle change in the texture of my skin after using the Retinol serum for past 7 days every night. I will surely update with a proper review in a months time, but so far, these products are bang on target!

The Ordinary is an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies positioned to raise pricing and communication integrity in skincare. The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity. The Ordinary is born to disallow commodity to be disguised as ingenuity. The Ordinary is “Clinical formulations with integrity”

Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! | Spring Summer Scent

Flirtatious, charming, and sparkling with lighthearted personality, this fragrance leaves you flirting with your senses! It bursts open with a bright and whimsical effervescence. At the heart of the fragrance is the playful scent of peony. As the scent dries down, a flirty and elegant trail gives you an unexpected touch of fun that makes you smile!

Oh, Lola’s cap bursts from the bottle in a flowery swirl of glossy, transparent petals in pink and cherry red. Beautifully juicy and refreshing, each brilliant layer of petals comes together with a surprising sparkle of spontaneous personality.

Raspberry, Peony, Pear, Cyclaman, Sandalwood, Magnolia, Tonka Bean & Vanilla Absolute.

Vibrant. Flirtatious. Lighthearted.

Oh, Lola! Is Marc Jacob’s much lighter and more wearable rendition of the famous Lola perfume. I always found the original much hard to wear. Where I loved the beautiful and dark floral rose scent, somehow it did not agree with the chemistry of my skin. Oh, Lola though is just lovely. This one is absolutely a summer scent with light fruity floral smell. It smells gorgeous and is perfect for spring/summer days.

Oh Lola! was launched in summer 2011
The fragrance, signed by Ann Gottlieb, is blended from fresh and sweet fruity tones, together with floral accords of peony and velvety background of vanilla. The notes include wild strawberry, raspberry, pear, peony, sandalwood and vanilla.
The signature Lola bottle has retained its original design, updated with pink colour palette. Oh Lola! is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. Oh Lola!was created by Ann Gottlieb, Calice Becker and Yann Vasnier.

The Face Shop the THERAPY Anti Ageing Cushion SPF 50 | Review

The THERAPY  Anti Ageing Cushion 50  – Anti-Wrinkle and Brightening Care. The anti-aging cushion helps reduce the appearance of multiple signs of aging with a handmade formula blend in Le Marche, France.
Second-skin finish. The micro-fine pigment powder keeps skin smooth and soft by covering uneven skin texture and pores while the moisturizing ingredients help makeup stay in place for a flawless-looking skin.
Younger-looking makeup for revitalized skin. The weightless formula covers fine lines and other imperfections while giving a dewy, fresh glow to the skin to create a youthful, elegant look.
Le Marche handmade blending formula. Containing a formula made from a handmade process that blends Marigold Flowers, Bay Leaves, and Olives over a period of 3 weeks, the ultra nourishing anti-aging cushion makeup caters to your skincare needs.”

The Face Shop’s Therapy Anti Ageing Cushion foundation doesn’t specify whether it is a BB/CC Cream or a Foundation, it just leaves it at “cushion”.
It comes in a thick and sturdy compact which is very apt size for travel. It has an SPF of 50 which is an another plus. Now the coverage – is quite sheer. This can be a good or bad according to the user’s preference. You can build up the coverage to a medium by reapplying it.
The “cushion” is very hydrating. It is perfectly suitable for the ones with dry/normal/combination skin
Not recommend for ones with extremely oily skin.
For the quantity provided, which is 15ml, it is pretty expensive. It is marked at INR1990 at NYKAA but you can currently purchase it on AMAZON for a discounted price of INR1592

Personally, I do love this cushion. As I have mentioned before, I have dry skin, therefore I prefer using foundation/BB creams with lighter coverage and more moisture. This one makes my skin look radiant and hydrated, as if I have chugged litres of water. Its lasting power is impressive at an easy 6-7 hours. As I have not really found a cheaper alternative to this, I think I will keep buying it. Although, I must mention that refills are much cheaper INR952 at AMAZON.

Top Five Foundations for Spring/Summer | Luxury & Drugstore

It is such a “summer bummer” when you are out and about to maybe a party of a cute lunch date and whatever little makeup you have on your face decides to melt off, making you look like a character  from John Carpenter’s The Thing – not cute.
So here is a little roundup of 5 foundations that I know will survive the scorching heat and whatever comes along with it – sticky humidity or the drylands moisture draught from Mad Max. OK enough movie references!

This version of Maybelline Fit Me foundation range is a gift from L’Oreal (mother company of Maybelline) to us. Remember the time when “matte” foundations would suck the life out of your skin and make is look flaky and enhance your dry patches? Well, not anymore! This foundation does none of that.
It goes on semi-matte i.e still gives skin a certain “glow”without causing the grease-face. Stays on for a good 7-8 hours without touch-ups. Does not crease nor does it move around.
Price – INR525

(frequently available on discounts around various online outlets)

Okay, so this one is purely a mattifying foundation. It has a matte finish and as the name suggests, it lasts the whole damn day! The best part about this foundation is the colour tone. Almost all of them are warm/yellow toned that perfectly compliment Indian (Asian) skin tone. It does not come off with sweat and humidity. PS – it won’t make you skin dehydrated at all. Arguably, my favourite drugstore foundation of all time. Wait till I tell you the price!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation//
This foundation is probably one of the best luxury foundations available in the market. It is a 20% water based foundation and is infused with serum. It does not have any chemicals like silicone, parabens etc. So if you are one of those who get those pesky little breakouts during the summer month, this is perfect for you.
The foundation gives a sheer to a buildable full coverage (depending on how many drops you use). Comes with a pipette – super hygienic. Provides the face with an all day cover with a hydrating velvety finish that is not too shiny nor matt.
Price – USD$39
Rating – ⭐⭐⭐⭐

L.A Girls Pro Coverage HD Foundation//
A super dewy and very illuminating foundation for summer – you ask why? Well because there are girls like me who have a perpetual dry skin syndrome, and who need something dewy and hydrating that doesn’t create a makeup massacre on the face. This foundation is just that. Its hydrating and very dewy – but is “sets” on the face and doesn’t move after a while. It is high coverage and gives you face a hyper healthy glow that you won’t need a Champagne Pop to go. Another perk – gives no flashback and looks great even in flash photography. No creasing, no melting – just perfect!
Price – INR1150

(a star less for being more expensive in India)

Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème//
If you have been watching the news you must have heard off the USA dropping Mother Of All Bombs on ISIS. Now let me introduce you to the Mother Of All FoundationsBecca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme. This foundation is radical. It is probably the highest coverage foundation I have ever used, and I have the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. Once your apply it on your face, you have to work it in real fast as it sets really quick. The Coverage is super high that it might scare you – I’m not kidding. You won’t even need a concealer. Its full coverage take it or leave it. It gives an absolute dewy-matt finish and you do not need to powder it down. In fact I suggest that you would do not use powder.
It sticks to you face all day long, nothing but oil will take it off. Its absolutely weightless and does not feel heavy on face. Has caused no breakouts, and I have an acne prone skin.
